Germ Game

My Submission For the GMTK 2024 Game Jam! I started the jam when only 35 ish hours were left to make the game, along with lots of exams and classes to attend! This is also the first game jam I have successfully submitted, with a failure in the last year, so I'm just thrilled to have submitted something, even though it's the probably the shittiest game in the world.  I intend to expand on this game's idea and mechanics as I like it very much, so any sorts of suggestions, ideas and dare I say- criticism (The game is so shitty you can't even criticize it) is more than welcome!

What the game is supposed to portray is a super advanced bacteria species that has died out, with only one remaining survivor- that's you! Your aim is to "eat" other bacteria, grow bigger and split to save your species, and you can't eat other bacteria bigger than you so you have to grow as big as possible to survive. Once you have eaten about 10 bacteria, you can "split" to continue your species, but you become smaller- which means you have to play again to grow. This is the game loop for now.

The game has some very obvious bugs, like the player continuing to be as big as it was before you "split" (or press "R"). I did not have time to fix it, as I'd rather have submitted "something". Thanks to anyone who tries this game out, and I'm sorry for this horrible gameplay 😭

Although a very horrible game- it's my first successful submission so, I'll remember it!
